Two intercity trains return to Newcastle & Central
  Coast Line
  Friday 28 October 2005

From Monday October 31 the 6.25am Newcastle to Central and 4.12pm Central to Newcastle services will return to CityRail’s usual intercity rolling stock.

We have been working hard to reconfigure our train fleet to allow usual rolling stock (V sets) to be reinstated on this line, following the withdrawal of 15 intercity carriages for inspection.

A decision will be made about the withdrawn carriages once they have been fully surveyed and the engineering inspection finalised. The NSW Independent Transport Safety and Reliability Regulator will continue to oversee this process.

Outer suburban Tangaras will continue to operate on the services below:
7.07am from Gosford, arriving Central at 8.37am
7.21am from Wyong, arriving Central at 9.07am
5.29pm from Central, arriving Gosford at 7.04pm
5.30pm from Central, arriving Wyong at 7.21pm

The NSW Government is in the process of purchasing more than $2.5 billion in new rolling stock which will include 122 outer suburban carriages to be used on Central Coast, South Coast and Blue Mountains services.

Thank you from CityRail to customers on the Newcastle & Central Coast Line for their understanding.
