More drivers for the CityRail network
  Thursday 27 April 2006

A record number of train drivers is now working on the CityRail network, following the graduation of 15 drivers from RailCorp's training college today. There are now 1412 qualified drivers, bringing the total number to more than 1400 for the first time. Twelve guards also graduated today, swelling the ranks to 1148.

Our new drivers were recruited internally and from outside the organisation and undertook either a six month bridging course for those with previous experience or a 19 month driver traineeship.

There are a further 202 drivers and 46 guards in training and RailCorp will have invested around $25 million in training at the Australian Rail Training College by the end of this financial year.
