Sydney & Beyond

Getting to the city

Beginning with the heart of the city itself, CityRail can help you experience the delights of Sydney and beyond.

In Sydney, if you're near a train station, you're on your way to the city. Every rail line in Sydney either leads directly or indirectly to the City Circle, the loop around the central business district of Sydney.

There are 8 stations on the City Circle: Central, Town Hall, Wynyard, Circular Quay, St James, Museum, Martin Place and Kings Cross. If you ask for a ticket to the city, your ticket will allow you to get off at any of these stations. You can also return from any station on the City Circle with a return ticket to the city. For example, if your day in the city starts at the Opera House but finishes at the Queen Victoria Building, you can get off the train at Circular Quay and back on again at Town Hall.
